Regifting By Kathleen Milazzo I had to laugh when my best friends sister told us about the ugly vase gift. I don't remember how they got to have this vase, but the story is that this flower vase was an eyesore. So much so that when their mom received it she knew she had to get back at her daughters, not only for this vase, but for the countless childhood gifts that were given with little thought and even less cost. As my best friends birthday was the next one of the three of them, her mom decided to start with her. She carefully wrapped the vase which she boxed, into a lovely looking gift,and presented it to her daughter. Of course she also had a real gift to give also. When my best friend happily opened the present and saw the vase she recognized it right away and began to laugh. This was the start of a long tradition of each of them re-gifting the vase to each other on their birthdays and Christmas. They never know who will get it or when especially because it's become a challenge of disguising it so it won't be readily recognized.
